ab Professional Edition
The WIM image format comes from the Image-X program and is used by Microsoft. Typically, Windows system recovery images are provided by Microsoft and OEMs in WIM format.
With this app you can restore images in WIM format. This means that backups that were created using Windows on-board tools or images for recovery ('recovery image') can be restored to a data medium.
This app is particularly suitable for restoring from a Windows backup or recovery image as well as for deploying newly installed systems.

Restore from WIM image |
Here you select the Windows image file to restore.
If you know the exact file path and the name of the image, you can
enter it directly into the input field. To search for an image, open the
Image Browser with the button.
If snapshots of the selected image exist, select the snapshot you want to restore from the dropdown or select the base image.
If an overlay exists for the selected image or snapshot, you can choose whether or not to include it in the restore by checking or unchecking the Overlay check box.
The layout of the partitions on the image is displayed in a bar below the disk selection drop-down menu. By clicking on the individual partitions in this bar, you can directly select or deselect them to be included or excluded from the restore. Open the PartitionSelect component with the options link. Here you can view details about the partitions as you make your selection.
Choose more options for WIM image recovery:
Image data verification: Following its creation, the entire image is checked against the source in a verification run in order to ensure that the content matches.
Automatically shut down system after completion: This option enables the automatic shut down of the computer once the process has been completed. There are various conditions that may be applied.
In addition to the options above, there are Advanced Options … to choose from Options.
Performance
FastCopy: A special algorithm which accelerates the copying speed.
trim: Free up unused data areas. Can speed up SSDs during and after writing.
Limit speed: Allows a reduction of the transfer speed in order to prevent temporary failure, as HDClone's performance can lead to hardware overload in some fast SSD models.
operating system
New computer name: The existing computer name is displayed and can be altered in the input field.
Adjust drivers: Automatically adjusts the installed boot drivers for the source's existing operating system.
Enable USB boot: By activating this option, suitable operating systems (e.g. Windows 7 and higher) can be copied to a USB disk and may also be booted from it via USB.
Set new Windows SID: The Windows system SID will be reset. This is crucial when restoring or copying systems within domain networks.
Reset WSUS client ID: The Windows Service Update Services (WSUS) require unique client IDs in domain networks. Duplicate WSUS client IDs may reach the clients, for example from disk cloning. This function allows you to reset the client ID in order to ensure the proper functionality of the Windows Server Update Services.
Disk
Modify disk signature: The existing disk signature (disk ID) is displayed and can be modified in the input field.
Remove MediaDirect: Remove the MediaDirect identifier in older generation Dell devices.
4K compatibility: Automatically aligns the copied partitions to 4 KiB boundaries on the target media to ensure its reading/writing efficiency when cloning/restoring to a disk with 4K sectors.
1M partition alignment: Alignment of partitions to 1MiB boundaries to ensure ideal performance during data access.
Convert to GPT: Convert the disk's existing partitioning scheme to GPT.
Start the process with Start . The status of
the operation is displayed in the progress bar in percent (%), along
with information about the current part of the operation, throughput,
and runtime. You can open this window with during the active process
to follow the details of the process. To cancel the process, click
Cancel .
Once the process is completed, the Status Component will appear
informing you about the process and the result of the image restoration.
You can also open the status component with while the process is still
active to track the details of the flow.
