Use the NetDisk applet to establish a connection to a NetDisk server, i.e. another PC in the LAN in which the NetDisk Server App has been started. As soon as the connection to the NetDisk server is established, its shared disks will be displayed and can be mounted on the local system.
After successfully mounting, the NetDisks can be used like local disks. In particular, it is possible to directly create a clone from or onto them with HDClone or they can be safely deleted with HDShredder. NetDisks can also be used in other apps as well.
Note: The usability described above is only given for NetDisks, as opposed to network shares, network drives, SMB drives or NAS storage. These can only be used to store images, since they do not allow direct access to the physical disk.
Click on "Network storage" () in the system bar to access the
NetDisk applet. The connection to a NetDisk server can be established
via the "Add Netdisk Server" entry. The NetDisk server will then appear
in the list of available servers.
Note: When entering the server address, please note that the host name is not the same as the system name. Only DNS names can currently be used as host names.
Once they have been added, the available NetDisk servers and their
shared NetDisks are displayed in the applet. This display is updated
each time the applet is opened. NetDisks that are already mounted - and
can therefore be used in the local system - are displayed with a filled
circle (). An empty circle indicates that the respective
NetDisk is available but has yet to be mounted.
In the system tray, the current presence of mounted NetDisks is signaled by a dot on the icon for the Network Storage applet.
Click on the respective NetDisk entry in order to mount or unmount a NetDisk. Once you log off, the NetDisk will become unavailable locally and can be mounted once again by another system (or by the local system).
Note: NetDisks that are shared for read-only access
by the server (), can be mounted by multiple clients at the same
time.
