Deletion Methods

On this screen, you make adjustments to your respective deletion method of choice.

Confirm your selection with  Next  at the bottom right of the screen. You will then be directed to the next step.

Easy & Secure

When using the Easy & Safe deletion method, you may determine the number of deletion runs based on your needs. You have three options to choose from, each with different runtime and security conditions.

Select your option:

Hint: If your goal is to achieve the highest possible security, yet you are unsure if your available time is sufficient to complete the deletion process, simply use the High Security method. If you happen to run out of time, you may suspend the process, which will have no negative impact on the deletion progress up to that point, and you may achieve a higher level of security.
Example: A higher level of security can be achieved by cancelling a High Security (7 runs) process after 4 runs, than a completed Intermediate method (3 runs) process.

Standardized

The Standardized deletion method offers 15 different standardized security settings for data deletion.

Customized

This method allows you to quickly and easily define your own deletion method ( fig. 3).

A specified deletion method is based on up to two deletion patterns, random values and a repetition counter. If necessary, these parameters can be individually enabled or disabled by checking or unchecking the respective boxes. In accordance with their activations, the parameters will be taken into account within the deletion process. The Deletion pattern parameter is the only one that is enabled by default.

Define a deletion pattern as follows:

Note: Deletion patterns are entered as hexadecimal 32-bit values. You may also enter a 16-bit or 8-bit value. These values will then be repeated two or four times in order to automatically convert them to 32-bit values. Example: the input field will convert 5Fh into 5F5F5F5Fh. To the right of the input field, the entered value will be graphically displayed as a binary pattern.

Verify

You may apply the Verify option to the different deletion patterns and the final run. The respective deletion run will then be followed by a verification run in order to check if the previously written patterns can be read from the media, and therefore it is verified whether the deletion pattern was actually written onto the media.
