Similar to a flight recorder, a log file secures details on the activity of the program. This saves us time when identifying and resolving any issues. Should you encounter technical difficulties and need to contact our support for assistance, please save a system log as soon as the issue occures, then send the log to our support staff along with your request.
Log files can be easily identified by their uniform naming scheme:
The log files are differentiated by creation date (date), product version (product) and a sequential number (nr) within the file names.
Log files that are created by starting Windows variant of the program with with .exe or by selecting System Log , then System Start in the extended options of the Symobi or Linux variant startup menu, are named with the following pattern:
System logs are saved in the subfolder with the path .\Symobi\Logs. The storage location depends on the product variant in use:
Windows variant:always in %AllUsersProfile% (usually refers to C:\ProgramData) or alternatively in %AppData% (usually refers to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming), plus in one of the following locations (in this order), if applicable:
In the Windows variant, the applicable folder can be opened directly from the System Status applet (), option Saved log files.
Symobi and Linux variants: the log files are always on the boot media from which the program was started, if writeable (not applicable for CD/DVD boot), and on the USB token, if connected.
If none of the above locations are available, the program will not save a log automatically. If you save a log manually, you will be prompted to choose a storage location.
The program automatically saves system logs at certain points in time.
