Adjust Boot Data

Appears once the copying process is completed. It allows you to adjust boot data that was copied 1:1 from the source.

Typically, boot data on the target media that is copied 1:1 from the source will need to be adjusted in order to ensure that target boots without a problem and to avoid conflicts with the source.

Automatic Adjustment

Select Automatic to have HDClone make the modifications automatically.

Hint: Use of the automatic boot data adjustment is highly recommended, except when different or no adjustment are specifically required.

No Adjustment

Select  No Changes  for absolute identical clones with no changes to the boot data (for example data recovery or forensic examination).

Important: With  No Changes , mostly only copies made to the same disk model will be bootable. Never boot windows when this type of copy is connected at the same time as the source.

Manual Adjustment

In certain cases, changing only specific boot data may be necessary, or desired. Select  Manual  to access the popup and manually adjust the boot data (fig. 2). The parameters are automatically preset by HDClone. Some refer to the partition sector (MBR/GPT), others to the boot sectors. They are arranged accordingly in groups.

Modify the boot codeAvoids boot problems on older hardware.
Change volume IDCreate a new ID for the partition. Required when source and target run on the same PC.

Once the parameters and options are set, click  Adjust  to modify the disk, or click  No changes  to leave the disk unchanged.

Note: In the case of a copy with several target media (Enterprise Edition only), the popup will only appear once. The selected adjustments will then apply to all target media.
